Kempinski Seychelles Resort

SYNERGY was appointed as the Project Quantity Surveyors for the redevelopment of the Plantation Club Project in the Seychelles in February 2009. Various new phases have been introduced over the past 4 years with SYNERGY being responsible for the overall development cost control and reporting.

Working in the Seychelles is extremely challenging with the procurement of materials and related logistics having a significant impact on costs. SYNERGY initially put a lot of effort into researching the local market in terms of current competitive building rates and understanding the logistics involved with the procurement. This is essential in order to be able to successfully negotiate competitive construction costs.

The project itself was split into two components namely the Kempinski Seychelles Resort and the Private Areas comprising various facilities for the Client. The diverse nature of the project has proven to be the most interesting having completed various unique facilities including a Dive Centre, Yoga Pavilion, Private Villa, Entertainment Centre, Spa and Resort Hotel. The related support facilities and infrastructure to support the above facilities also needed to be continuously reviewed and adjusted to suit the new requirements.

The completion of the various facilities within extremely tight project deadlines while working in a remote area could not have been achieved without constant communication and team work amongst the professional team and contractor. The team was ably lead by Mantis Development and their co-ordination of various consultants with offices throughout South Africa was a key contributor to the ultimate success of the project.

SYNERGY are extremely proud to be the Project Quantity Surveyors on this project and are grateful to have been given the opportunity to provide PQS Services on a project of this nature.

The Kempinski Seychelles Resort is now officially open and can be highly recommended as a unique holiday destination.
